Objectif
Holloid will transform food production based on precision fermentation and microalgae cultures with the world’s most advanced real-time bioprocess monitoring and control platform. The current absence of real-time monitoring systems capable of characterizing different microorganisms and cells in bioprocesses, including their states, hinders breakthroughs in bioprocess production of food ingredients from transitioning beyond the lab, greatly reduces productivity, and leads to frequent waste. Primarily, companies in this area face challenges in 1) quickly detecting low concentrations of spoiler microorganisms to avoid waste and 2) monitoring all microorganisms in large liquid volumes to develop and control new and optimized bioprocesses.
Holloid develops a unique bioprocess control system based on groundbreaking high-throughput, automated in-line holographic microscopy. In this project, we will add pre-emptive remote maintenance, upscale secure data management pipelines, and use AI to distinguish microorganisms and their phenotypic states in real-time. Our platform will analyze millions of microorganisms in minutes, identifying even rare populations with high statistical significance. It is the missing key enabling technology, giving food bioprocess engineers the ability to directly monitor the microorganisms present and control production with unprecedented precision. We will deliver actionable insights in real-time that our pilot customers say can double their output while using significantly fewer resources, critically enhancing the quality and safety of fermentation and microalgae products. Our scalable SaaS platform and low-cost sensors will be easily integrated into any production process, making statistically relevant, single-cell monitoring accessible to businesses everywhere via a user-friendly web interface.
Holloid aims to become an integral part of the production value chain for bioprocesses that decouple food production from soil and the environment.
